  • So how does Assigned Pooling work? So glad you asked!

There you are...knitting along with your Main Color- the Contrast arrives to be knit- and thats your signal to start a flower!                           No thinking, no counting, because the yarn tells you what to do!

Because I dye two colors for the Contrast, you'll have to decide which one you want to be highlighted.  The color that comes first to be knit will be the bottom of the flower, the second will make a fan on top, and be most visible.

In this large, 1,100 yard double skein (you actually have extra because it's a double) you've got more than enough to wind off 7-8 repeats and make a sample with one color coming first, then wind off another 7-8 to try with the other color first.                                                                                 Very worth the extra time, to be sure you start your shawl the way you want it.

Why a double skein? Because to make this sized shawl, you'd need two singles.  This way you don't have to worry that you have two that match, and there's no knot. :)

This big skein will only want to wind in one direction.  If the "wrong" contrast color is coming first, just wind the skein back the other way.  Also, good idea to wind into a ball, as that many yards in a cake will become unstable long before its used up.

This yarn can be used to make Dawn Barkers "Float" or "Calico" Assigned Pooling patterns, or any Assiged Pooling pattern with a contrast section of 12-16 inches.

All of my litte samples are the beginnings of a "Float Shawl"l. It's a non-equilateral triangle shawl. "Calico" has the same flowers, but is an equilateral triangle shawl.

  • We are so happy you have chosen our high quality hand dyed superwash merino yarn.  Our colorways are designed to be unique and interesting, with our hand dyed speckled yarn adding dimension and character to your every project.

The superwash process provides for minimal shrinkage and allows for gentle cold water machine washing.  Every effort is made to create color fastness, however initial washing should be done separately.  Warm and hot water should be avoided as they break the dye's chemical bond, causing colors to bleed.  Garments should then be shaped and laid flat to dry.

We hope you enjoy your handmade projects for many years to come.
